International Day of Caves and the Subterranean World Celebrated Worldwide

The International Show Caves Association (ISCA) is delighted to report the successful celebration of the International Day of Caves and the Subterranean World on June 6, 2026.

This year's edition was especially significant as it marked the 10th anniversary of this international initiative, which was created by the showcave community to raise awareness of the beauty, value, and importance of caves and subterranean heritage.

Across the world, show caves, cave organizations, tourism professionals, educators, and visitors joined the celebration through a wide variety of activities, including guided tours, educational events, exhibitions, social media campaigns, special promotions, and conservation initiatives. Many caves also distributed commemorative materials and shared messages highlighting the importance of protecting underground ecosystems.

The growing participation demonstrates the increasing recognition of caves not only as remarkable tourist attractions but also as unique places for education, scientific research, conservation, and cultural heritage.
